How do I sign up my child for a Class to Audition?

What if my child does not want to continue?
It is normal for some children to not want to stick it out the first time they do a show. The rehearsals, towards the end, can sometimes get tiring because they are not understanding the process. There have been some children that have felt like quitting, but their parents had them stick it out and after the performance, they LOVED it! One kid in particular comes to mind. He had a pirate part in 2010 in Peter Pan. Each week when it was time to go to rehearsal, he would ask, "Do we have to go?" He would tell his mom he didn't want to do it anymore. She told him that he made a commitment and he needed to stick it out. After we performed at the Plaza, he fell in love with acting! He had a little bit bigger part in the summer. That Fall, he was the PERFECT fit for the lead role of George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life", and he did an incredible job! Amazing! I urge parents to have their child(ren) stick out the commitment they make to the class. That is a good life lesson to learn.  Please see the Tuition Form about all the information about dropping the class. To avoid the drop class fee, please have your child decide within the first four classes.  (see the tuition form)
What are Auditions like?
Auditions are easy going and fun!  We do cold readings format. That means that when your child gets to class, they will read from the script to audition.  Students will be asked to read various parts with a group of children reading other parts. Students do not have to prepare in advance. If your child does not read yet or has trouble reading, that is fine. We will give them a line to say and how to say it and they will repeat it back.  While a child is not auditioning, they are either playing theater games to improve their skills or going over the part they are going to read for. If your child is wanting to come to one class and 'try" it out, please fill out the Free Trial Class Form on the Enrollment Forms page and email us your child's name, age and the day and time of the class they want to try out. If you have any questions, please feel free to email.
Can my child work behind the Scenes & be on Tech Crew?
If your child signs up for our Tech Crew Class, they will have an opportunity to help build and paint sets and/or props. They can learn stage makeup, lighting, curtains, set crew, prop crew, stage management!
How do you cast the Show?
Every child receives a part!  Breitling Performing Arts takes casting seriously and we want to make the best decision(s) for your child(ren) so they can succeed! Sometimes children get smaller parts and sometimes larger parts. It is all a matter of timing, training, part availability, and your child's willingness to work on their part outside of classtime, memorizing their lines. Registration and payment is due at the time of the first audition. If your child is wanting to come to one class and 'try" it out, please fill out the Free Trial Class Form and email us your child's name, age and the day and time of the class. If you have any questions, please feel free to email.
Can my child(ren) try out a class?
If your child(ren) is/are wanting to come to one class and 'try" it out, please fill out the free trial class form and email or call the director to get your child's name on the list.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email the director at ActingForChildren@hotmail.com  Trying out a class does not guarantee you a spot in that class. Parent's do not have to stay during their child's class time.  Parents are allowed to drop their child off and leave.  Parents can stay and watch.  Siblings(ex: crying baby, toddler wondering into our rehearsal space) to students must not be a distraction to the other children trying to rehearse.
